The Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends, PASYKAF, successfully organized the Melanoma Symposium titled ‘Enlightening the Future in Melanoma’ on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Limassol.
The Scientific Symposium aimed to inform and educate doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals involved or specialized in melanoma research and treatment, with the ultimate goal of improving the care of individuals with cancer experience. The keynote speaker of the Symposium was Professor Mandeep Sagoo, a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon from Moorfields Hospital in London. Esteemed scientists such as Dr. Simos Malas, Yiannis Pantalos, Dr. Nektarios Pavlidis, Dr. Georgia Koulermou, Dr. Zoi Kordatou, and Dr. Konstantinos Ferentinos presented the latest scientific findings on the diagnosis and therapeutic approaches for melanoma.
The Symposium took place in memory of Marios Argyriou and concluded with a touching ceremony honoring his life and work. Speeches were delivered by his mother, Mrs. Spyroula Argyriou, and the sculptor Mr. Filippos Yapanis. Greetings were extended by the President of PASYKAF, Dr. Anna Achilleoudi, the President of the Limassol Medical Association, Dr. Marios Karaiskakis, the President of the Cyprus Ophthalmological Society, Dr. Andreas Kontos, and the President of the Cyprus Society of Dermatology and Venereology, Dr. Margarita Mavrogeni. The artist Svetlana Goncharenko closed the ceremony by creating live, impressive sand art perfomance.
